This elegant timber-clad home overlooking the Bay of Plenty in New Zealand features unusual and striking geometry for a rural home. Architects Tennant & Brown designed the strong geometry in response to the cliff top location and dramatic ocean views, while the barn-style architecture was influenced by the existing rural buildings in the area. Steel was used to create a refined rural interior with an industrial flavour, while trees from a family property were milled for the project. The external timber cladding has aged to an elegant silver patina which blends beautifully into the rural location. [photography by Paul McCredie]
