Nordic-inspired beach retreat

By Kim McFayden 3 years ago2 Comments

The interior design of this cottage in Portsea on the Mornington Peninsula involved its refurbishment and transformation into a warm and Nordic inspired beach house retreat. The existing architecture was challenging to work with as it offered very little natural light. Inspired by a Nordic aesthetic, Christopher Elliot Design specified that the entire interior, including floors and walls, be painted white to create a clean backdrop. All available light was reflected, giving the appearance of a sun-drenched space. To create points of interest amongst the sea of white, coastal furniture with the warmth and character of natural fibres together with a collection of ethnic objects were selected for the interiors. A wonderful and dramatic transformation!

Products used: Enzo sofa by Jardan, Milano bed and Cross base bedside tables designed by Christopher Elliott, Geneva dining table designed by Christopher Elliott and key decorative objects and lighting by Hermon & Hermon.
