Who else would love to live in this quirky, warm, personality-infused home in Marrickville? The many interesting elements to the building are perfectly complimented with expertly clashed colour and texture in the interiors. I just love it!

The architectural design was conceived by David Boyle Architect, who said that he modulated the floor and ceilings to create a series of interlocking spaces aimed at maximising aspect, light and the perception of space and carved the spaced to create a backdrop for the owner’s eccentric collection of furniture and artwork culminating in a gallery like living room space opening out to an elevated deck and yard.

Construction materials: cladding in double layered fibre cement with western red cedar cover battens, salvaged bricks for common wall, expressed Oregon timber for interior beams, walls and bookshelves,

Sustainable features: passive solar orientation, cross-ventilation, concrete slab for thermal mass, insulated timber floor, salvaged bricks from original house
