An artists New York condo
This jaw dropper is home to a fabric designer, painter and sculptor, who spent 18 months and over $2 million transforming the space into a work of art. It’s a seriously large abode at 4,200sqft (1680 sqm!) with 24ft high ceilings, stunning exposed timber beams and floor to ceiling glass. The space is full of the owner’s paintings, sculptures and textiles and the months of painstaking work are evident: the cast-iron and mahogany staircase was welded together insitu with an oxidized copper screen behind the staircase which took the owner six months to craft by hand. The study has a whole linen-covered wall that the owner embroidered with silk and metal threads, while the master bedroom has walls covered in cotton-satin panels with hand-embroidered silk to resemble a Japanese bamboo garden. On the upper level of the condo is a column plastered with rusted metals and brass, which took the owner four months to fabricate. Hasn’t it got a great vibe? It would want to with an $8 million USD price tag!
